This Privacy Policy explains what information Anonymous Group Inc collects when you use the Anonymous website, how we use it, who we share it with and the choices and rights you have.
1. Who we are and this privacy policy
Anonymous is the news website of the Anonymous social media brand, available at anonymousgroupinc.com (the “Site”). The Site is published by Anonymous Group Inc (“we,” “us” or “our”).

2. Information we collect
Information you provide
- Comments: when you comment on a story, we collect the name you enter and the text of your comment. Comments are public once approved.
- Emails to us: when you email us with a tip, correction request, privacy request, feedback or business inquiry, we receive your email address, your name if you include it and the contents of your message and any attachments.
Information collected automatically
When you visit the Site, we and our partners may automatically collect:
- Device and log data: your IP address, browser type, device type, operating system, the pages you visit, the time and date of your visit, links clicked and the website that referred you.
- Approximate location: your general location, such as country or city, derived from your IP address. We do not collect precise location.
- Cookies and similar identifiers: cookie identifiers, pixels and similar online identifiers, as explained in section 5.
Reactions, shares and views
When you react to or share a story, or view a page, we count these actions anonymously. To prevent duplicate counts and abuse, we use a hashed version of your IP address, which is a one-way scrambled code rather than the address itself. We do not use these counts to identify you.
3. How we use information
- To operate, maintain and improve the Site and our content.
- To publish and moderate reader comments.
- To respond to your messages, tips, correction requests and privacy requests.
- To count reactions, shares and views and to understand which stories readers find useful.
- To measure how readers use the Site through analytics.
- To show advertising, including personalized advertising where permitted, which funds our free journalism.
- To protect the Site, our readers and our advertisers against fraud, spam, abuse and security threats.
- To comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Use.
4. Legal bases for processing
If you are in the European Economic Area (EEA), the United Kingdom or Switzerland, we rely on the following legal bases under the GDPR and UK GDPR:
- Consent: for non-essential cookies, personalized advertising and similar technologies. You can withdraw consent at any time.
- Legitimate interests: to run, secure, improve and fund a free news website, to moderate comments and to respond to your messages, where these interests are not overridden by your rights.
- Contract: to provide features you ask to use, such as posting a comment, in line with our Terms of Use.
- Legal obligation: where we must process information to comply with the law.
5. Cookies and similar technologies
Cookies are small text files stored on your device. We and our partners use cookies, web beacons, pixels and similar technologies for these purposes:
- Essential: to make the Site work and keep it secure.
- Analytics: to understand traffic and popular content.
- Advertising: to deliver, limit, measure and, where permitted, personalize ads.
Where required by law, including for visitors in the EEA, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, we ask for your consent before setting non-essential cookies, and you can change your choices at any time. You can also control or delete cookies in your browser settings. Blocking some cookies may affect how the Site works.
6. Advertising and Google AdSense
We use Google AdSense and other third-party advertising vendors to display ads on the Site. These companies may use cookies and similar technologies to collect information about your visits to this and other websites in order to show ads that may interest you.
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites.
- Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this Site and other sites on the internet.
- You can opt out of personalized advertising from Google by visiting Google Ads Settings at adssettings.google.com.
- You can opt out of some third-party vendors’ use of cookies for personalized advertising by visiting aboutads.info/choices, or, in Europe, youronlinechoices.eu.
To learn how Google uses information from sites that use its services, visit policies.google.com/technologies/ads. Other advertising partners may use cookies for similar purposes under their own privacy policies. If you opt out, you will still see ads, but they will be less relevant to you.
7. Analytics
We use analytics services, which may include Google Analytics, to understand how visitors use the Site. These services use cookies to collect information such as pages viewed and time spent, which is generally reported to us in aggregate form. You can opt out of Google Analytics by installing the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on, available at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
8. Embedded content, social media and affiliate links
Our pages may include embedded videos, posts and buttons from services such as YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, X, Threads, LinkedIn and Pinterest. These services may collect information and set their own cookies when you load or interact with embedded content. Their privacy policies apply to that information.
Our Shop uses affiliate links. When you click an affiliate link, the retailer or affiliate network may use cookies to record that you came from our Site so that we can earn a commission. Purchases you make are handled by the retailer under its own privacy policy.
9. How we share information
We share information only as needed, with:
- Service providers that help us host, secure and operate the Site and handle email.
- Advertising and analytics partners, as described in sections 6 and 7.
- Authorities or other parties when required by law, or to protect our rights, our readers or the public.
- A buyer or successor in the event of a merger, acquisition or sale of assets.
Comments you post, including the name you enter, are visible to the public. We will never reveal the identity of a confidential news source without consent, except where required by law.
10. Data retention
We keep personal information only for as long as needed for the purposes in this policy.
- Comments: kept while the comment remains published, or until you ask us to remove it.
- Emails and correspondence: kept as long as needed to handle your request and keep an accurate record of corrections and editorial matters, then deleted or anonymized.
- Reaction, share and view counts: stored as anonymous totals linked to hashed IP values, not to your identity.
- Analytics and advertising data: kept according to the retention settings of our partners.
We may keep information longer where required by law or to resolve disputes.
11. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information, including encrypted connections to the Site. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. Please do not send confidential information to us by plain email.
12. International transfers
Our service providers and partners may process information in countries other than your own, which may have different data protection laws. Where required, we rely on appropriate legal safeguards for these transfers.
13. Your rights under the GDPR and UK GDPR
If you are in the EEA, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Ask us to correct inaccurate data.
- Ask us to delete your data.
- Restrict or object to certain processing, including processing based on legitimate interests.
- Receive your data in a portable format.
- Withdraw consent at any time where we rely on consent.
- Complain to your local data protection authority.
14. Your rights under US state laws, including the CCPA and CPRA
If you are a California resident, or a resident of another US state with a similar privacy law, you may have the right to:
- Know what categories and specific pieces of personal information we collect, use and disclose.
- Request deletion of your personal information, subject to legal exceptions.
- Correct inaccurate personal information.
- Opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
- Limit the use of sensitive personal information, although we do not knowingly collect it.
- Not be discriminated against for exercising your rights.
Do not sell or share my personal information
We do not sell personal information for money. However, allowing advertising partners to use cookies for personalized advertising may count as a “sale” or “sharing” under California law. To opt out, email us with the subject line PRIVACY and the words “Do not sell or share,” adjust your cookie choices, or use the opt-out tools listed in section 6. Where supported, we honor browser-based opt-out signals such as Global Privacy Control.
15. How to make a request
To exercise any of your rights, email [email protected] with the subject line PRIVACY. We may need to verify your identity before responding. You may use an authorized agent where the law allows. We respond within the time limits set by applicable law.
16. Children’s privacy
The Site is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13, or from children under 16 in the EEA and other regions where that age applies. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
17. Do Not Track
Some browsers send a “Do Not Track” signal. Because there is no common industry standard for these signals, the Site does not currently respond to them. We do honor Global Privacy Control signals where supported, as described in section 14.
18. Links to other websites
The Site may link to other websites. We are not responsible for their privacy practices, and we encourage you to read their policies.
19. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The updated version will be posted on this page with a new “Last updated” date. Significant changes will be highlighted on the Site.
